According to Daniel Pink, stories exist where ever high concept and high touch intersect.

NASA, Xerox, and World Bank use the story telling process. I believe it is a worthwhile process because when you tell a story it’s easier to remember the information given. If you just learn it from a textbook it’s easier to forget the information, unless you like reading the textbooks. The story telling idea will help a worker not make a mistake that could cause damage to a company or themselves.

Stories are being used in medicine to help the patients explain theur ailments. A better understanding of the problem equals a better understanding of how the doctors can help. The other way they are being used is to create a better patient-doctor relationship. A better relationship between the two has been created by stories written on the parallel chart and it can make the patients stay at the hospital more enjoyable.

    1. The author says that stories exist everywhere.
    2. Three companies who use this process are NASA, Xerox, and StoryQuest. I do think that it is a worthwhile process because I believe that it could make them better at what they do.
    3. Stories are being used in medicine by having the doctors write a narrative story on the patient’s history and they have a better doctor-patient relationship. The patient also tells their own story to the doctor.

3)THe stories are being incorporated into the medicine world. They are using stories to become closer with the patients learn about their lives. One way they are doing this is by writing a narrative about the patient. Also listening to the story of the their lives not just their suffering to gain a better relationship. It will help get closer to patient and get to know them better so you can diagnose problem better.

    1. According to Pink, stories exist where high concept and high touch intersect. He says that it is high concept and high touch because it “sharpens our understanding of one thing by showing it in the context of something else.” I agree that stories are High concept and High touch, because seeing the information being presented in a way that is more relatable than just facts would help most people learn things a lot more easily.
    2. A. 3M, NASA, and Xerox all use storytelling to help improve their businesses.
    B. I believe that this process is very worthwhile because it helps executives, who normally think in terms of just fact, connect more with their customers and staff, thus improving business.

    3. Stories are being used to let doctors connect more with their patients by, instead of just examining the ailments, they examine the patient’s life, helping them to better understand the patient.
    A. Dr. Charon uses storytelling to develop a better relationship with her patients, leading her to better understand what might be afflicting them. Also, Dr. Charon uses this stronger doctor-patient bond to help her patients cope with the loss of health, leading them to have a quicker recovery.

    3. Stories are being used in medicine by the doctors telling them to their patients. These stories help doctors explain to their patients their problems and/or concerns. These stories help a lot so that the doctors can find better ways to help their patients. Dr. Charon uses the help of stories to improve their patient’s health by requiring narrative competence. “The competences that human beings use to absorb, interpret, and respond to stories.” She also says that stories cannot heal the sick but combined with modern technology they have an undeniable healing power.

1.Stories exist in the place that high concept and high touch intersect. It is high concept because it sharpens the understanding and it is high touch because the story has an emotional punch in it.

2.A. There is the NASA, Xerox, and The United Kingdom is three companies mentioned in the story.
    B. Yes, I do because it shows what people can do and it helps them out a lot because they get things done and it helps them out in the long run. It helps them out in the building they work in, in many different buildings.

3.A. There was a story about the people who create stories of themselves and the doctors would interrupt after 21 seconds. Now doctors wait 23 seconds before interrupting. Also that the doctor not only needs to give medicine but listen to the patient and it would help the patient get better.

    B. I believe it does help and is better because I myself feel as though I would be able to grasp the concept better than just reading manuals or having classes on the subject. I also believe it gives direct emotional connection rather than informational text.

3.) Stories are being used in medicine because they take a seminar where they are to listen to stories in addition to their science informational classes. This way, instead of getting computer-like questions, they broaden their inquiry by learning to listen more empathically. As I said before, this creates an emotional understanding and connection.

A.) She realized that everything in her career revolved around stories and could easily be turned into a narrative. She also believes that illness itself, unfolded as a narrative. Because of these to assumptions made by Dr. Charon, she would have the patients explain their illness as a narrative and have a cause of the illness.

    1. According to the author where do stories exist?

The author explains, “Stories exist where high concept and high touch intersect”. It is high concept because it helps our understanding by putting it in another situation, for a better understanding. A story is high touch because it can help you relate emotionally, also for a personal better understanding. Basically, where high concept and high touch come together you can find a story.

    2. In the author's section The Story Business he talks about businesses relying on storytelling to train some of their employees.

Three companies from the text that use this process.
    •NASA

    •StoryQuest

Yes, I do think this is a worthwhile process because if it can teach the human mind better with stories than with manuals or classes, than I do think a lot better.

    3. According to the text how are stories being used in medicine?
    a. Using at least 2 examples from the text explain to me how Dr. Charon uses the concept of stories to improve the health of her patients.

She explains how examination consists of narratives. The patient starts by telling the doctor what’s wrong. She explains how listening to narratives can better help you with the patient. Narratives help relate better for a better understanding for what the problem is. Also asking more personal questions such as “Tell me about your life” can help as well. Listening to patients stories give a greater understanding for diagnosis.

  15. 1) According to the author, stories exist most from our experience, our knowledge, and our thinking. I think that what he stated was true because we could write a story that base on our own experience or we also could write it base on our relative’s experience.
    2) A. – NASA
    -Xerox
    - StoryQuest
    B. I do believe that this is a worthwhile process because to become successful, workers need to get like suggestion from the storytelling. After they heard the story, they would learn how to do their job carefully and to prevent mistakes that could happen anytime.
    3) The first example would be on page 113, Charon told that to be a good doctor, you need to their stories. The second example would be on page 113, the second paragraph, it says that instead of asking the patient “Tell me where it hurts”, it’s becomes “Tell me about your life”. I think that by listening to what they do in their life, we could understand what’s wrong with the patient and we could suggest the patient like what they should do to improve the healthiness of their body and mind.

    2.)

a.)Three companies are NASA, Xerox and StoryQuest.
b.)I think it is a worthwhile process because it helps you look at pictures and understand a story line and trying to relate that to a job force is good. Also it can help you understand the work ethic and how to break things down.

    3.)
It helps because med students are no longer asking questions such as “where does it hurt” or “where is the pain” the questions are more along the lines of “tell me about your life”. They also learn to listen more empathically to the stories their patients tell and read those stories with greater acuity.

Yes I do think this is a worthwhile process because if you are able to talk to a person and tell them a story to get them to do what you want then it is defiantly worth it.
Stories are being used in medicine by doctors telling clients stories before selling them the drugs.

    3) Stories are being used as a easier way to interact with patients. One example is the way doctors tell their patients stories about other people who have had that problem and it could help them cope with it. b. Yes, I think the process is worthwhile because it gives the workers an opportunity to interact and connect more with their customers. If they remember stories then it can be useful in the long run, it could also help memory. The employees can and will be more successful at their jobs if they can remember a story that relates to their position, that would make it easier for them to get the job done.

    3. It says in the chapter that illness unfolds as a narrative except in the medical school curriculum or the consciousness of students and teachers. Stories are being used in medicine to cure patients. Doctors listen to their patients and vice versa, they patient feels at ease knowing that the doctor is listening to them.
