ReplyDelete1.) This relates because when you write or draw.or even put something together you start out slowly getting your thoughts together then you hit a point where it comes to you and begins to flow, then you may slow down, then by the end it will rise and slowly drop and keep repeating this until you are finished.
2.) Convential art class. He drew his lips based off of memory instead of what he actually saw. This relates to humans and thinking because when we do something we do it from repitition or memory not from what we see at that moment.
3.)Understanding one thing in terms of another. I agree it will get us to widen our thought range. We will also be able to understand thingas a little better, even our own lives. I am a flower, im slowly growing from help of things around me. I am gravity, some people feel i bring them down but really i keep their feet on the ground and leveled. My day is a flame, it slowly rises and can be put out at any moment. My week is a rope, it is long and plain but at times it can get knotted. My life is a needle, many people are scared of it but it is needed, but also can be dangerous in certain times.
4.)Dyslexic people. Charles Schwab, inventede discount brokerage and Richard Branson, shaken up retail music and airline industry. They are intuitive and excel at problem solving, see the big picture and simplifying, and recognizing patterns.

ReplyDelete1. It is similar because it starts out slow, then it gets very involved, and much more fluent, then again, at the end, it is slower. When I write an essay, it usually starts out very slow, because I don’t know where to start, but then, once I get started, its every easy to keep going. However, at the end, it goes slower again because I am not very good at concluding my essay without just saying things over again.
2. His class was called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
• He describes his lips as not lips, but a modern hieroglyph for lips. This has occurred because whenever people see drawn lips, they look like that. Most of the imagery received in modern-day society is exaggerated for emphasis. This relates to our thinking as humans because seeing the exaggerated version helps us to remember what the original looked like, even if we can’t draw it correctly.
3. A metaphor is a comparison of one thing to another, to help people understand the first thing. I agree with Pink’s argument. I think that being able to perceive and understand metaphors is a very important skill for us to have. It can help us to better understand what are peers are trying to say and can also help us to better relate with the people we work with in the future.
4. Dyslexia is attributed to stronger Right-Brained thinking. Charles Schwab and Richard Branson both contribute to their success to their dyslexia. This disorder attributes to R-Brained thinking because it impairs the left. Because of this impairment, the Right side of the brain becomes much stronger. Also, instead of just looking at a liner patter of events, dyslexics think outside the box, and solve problems differently. Leading them to be innovators and visionaries.

1. When making a symphony, writing an essay, drawing a picture, or putting something together, you combine all different types of ideas or objects to create one item.
2. The name of the class that he enrolled in was Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. He drew his lips from symbols remembered from his childhood; he drew them like a Magikist sign. I believe this happened because this is how he seen all lips when drawing them, this relates to our thinking as humans because we don’t always draw what we see but what we remember.
3. A metaphor understands one thing in terms of another thing. I agree with his argument. Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get, meaning you don’t know what will happen to you throughout your life. My life is like a rollercoaster, this means that I have my ups and I have my downs. My days are like a classroom, there are always new lessons to learn. Sometimes I feel like my life is a puzzle, meaning sometimes my life is so confusing at times. My day yesterday was like a day at an amusement park, meaning I had a fun time all day yesterday.
4. Dyslexia is the disorder that aides r-brain thinking. Charles Schwab and Richard Branson both do. It make them excel at problem-solving, seeing the big picture, and simplifying.
1) Symphony is like writing an essay because it has to make sense and you need to focus when you are working on it to make the essay good. You can also connect it with your real life when you write an essay or symphony sometimes.
ReplyDelete2) The drawing school where Daniel Pink attended was drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. After he drew himself, he describes his lips like a symbol of the Magikist. This occurred because he remembered that and it reminds him of his lips.
3) A metaphor is the expression of an understanding of one concept in terms of another concept, where there is some similarity or correlation between the two. I believe that MQ is important because it makes us more creative when we do stuff. The example is:
a. I never wasted time because time is money
b. My life is a precious possession, death is a loss
c. My life is a struggle, but if I die, it’s like I’m losing a contest against an adversary
d. I rushed the time, because time is a thief
e. I’m dead tired after I arrived home.
4) Charles Schwab was one of them who were success to this disorder with his dyslexics. This disorder contributing to R-Brain thinking because usually, this could helps them to solve the problem that they faced and make them become successful. On page 130, it says that symphony is the ability to put together the pieces. Symphonic thinking is a signature ability of composers and conductors. On page 141, it says that seeing the big picture is fast becoming a killer app in business. So, this contribute to the R-Brain thinking.

1. This relates to how I write an essay because there are some parts that are shocking and then there are some parts that are details. For example the louder more surprising parts could be your concrete detail and then the softer more calm parts could be your commentaries following up with your concrete detail. Then it is not the same because it is not in the same order and usually essays. They just have parts in the symphony that fit in, but in an essay there is a certain method that you have to follow.
ReplyDelete2. Drawing on the Right side of the brain.
-It is a symbol. He merely written “lips” in a modern hieroglyphics instead of truly seeing his lips and recognizing how they relate to totality of my face.
3. I believe that it is important to build your MQ because it is as valuable as your IQ. I think that it is important to build your MQ because if it is as important as your IQ then it is very important.
-he just went ghost on us.
-I was about to cry like a baby.
-time is money
-I rush time because time is thief.
-he is as fast as a jack rabbit

1. The symphony is similar to drawing a picture because when you’re doing something you take your time on it and try your best. They are different because they have different topics.
2. The name of the class that Daniel Pink was enrolled in was “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.”
• He describes how he drew his lips as a symbol for lips. This occurred because since he doesn’t know how to draw he uses thing that he remembered to help him. This relate to our thinking because when we see things it makes it easier for us to remember things such as different pictures and/or symbols.
3. A metaphor is the understanding one thing in terms of something else. I do agree with this argument because if you want to be creative you should expand your MQ.
• I am so hungry I can eat a horse. (I am really hungry)
• It’s raining cats and dogs. (It rained real hard one night)
• Taste so good makes you want to smack your mama. (It tasted really good)
• Feels like I’m on fire. (I was really hot)
• Feels like I just got hit in my head. (Had a really bad head ache)
4. The disorder is called “dyslexics”.
• The people that partially contribute their success to this disorder are Richard Branson and Michael Gerber.
This contributes to R-Brain thinking because it effects the different thinkers and how they think.

ReplyDelete1.A symphony is similar to anything your write or draw because just like in a song your ideas start off slow and then crescendos into a powerful sound or thought. When you think about something first it goes really slow and you’re just finding it out but when you hit a really good idea it just hatches into something great, just like the song does when it hits a strong melody or part in the song.
2.Daniel Pink enrolled in an art class by reading a book called Drawing on the right side of the brain the method pioneered by Betty Edwards. Pink described that he drew his lips like a symbol for lips and not what they look like. I think that this occurs because when we see something we first start to see the symbols and things we are most familiar with and then we draw them.
3.A metaphor is understanding one thing in terms of something else- is another important element of Symphony. The exact definition is a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity. I agree because no one should be taking life literally as people do. It helps you understand real life situations or passages that you can read in a story.
a.“I sleep like the dead. “ * This relates to me because I sleep like a rock and I do not hear anything while I’m sleeping. *
b.)At work I say Give me your ears to the little kids. *This does not mean literally mean give me your ears but it helps the little kids get quiet.*
c.“The Sky is Falling” *I use this everyday because my life can get really crazy and sometimes it feels like everything is crashing down around me.
d.“The teenage boy’s stomach was a bottomless pit.” * This relates to me because a lot of my guy friends eat like no tomorrow. My friend Damien ate three slices of pizza yesterday, a bag of chips, salad, and two cartons of milk…and was still hungry. *
e.“I have a very loud personality.” * This relates to me because I am loud and person and I am loud in a sense I can be loud with my ideas.
4.Dyslexics contribute themselves to this disorder because they have more of an open mind to see and understand things.
5.They are intuitive and excel at problem-solving, seeing the big picture and simplifying. They are poor rote recites but inspired visionaries.

1. A symphony is similar to an essay or drawing because on both you have to think of what you want portray. You have to think about your audience. You have to compose it. In an essay you have to be almost precise in your writing. In aa symphony the different instruments and sounds have to blend together. A drawing doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about being creative and imaginative.
2. The name of the drawing class that Daniel Pink enrolled in was Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. After reflecting on his first portrait he says that his lips doesn’t look like that and he drew a symbol for lips and that he didn’t truly see his lips. I think this occurred because when us humans look at something we see something. If we take a second to actually see what it is, there it’s something else.
3. A metaphor is understanding one thing in terms of something else. I agree that we should build up our MQ. I agree because some people talk intellectual and some do not. I agree with the statement that it helps us understand each other. -I am a volcano. I am a cool person but if something rubs me the wrong way I snap.-I’m a chamillion. I have many sides to my personality.-My week was rocky. Everyday something wrong happened.-I’m a bird. Sometimes I want to get away from everybody and everything.
4. Dislexia is considered to be an aide in R-Brain thinking. Charles Schwab and Richard Branson thinks this disorder is the secret to their success. In the chapter Sally Shaywitz says that Dislexics sees the big picture. She also says they are not good reciters but are visionaries.

2.It was a class based on Betty Edwards’s book, drawing on the right side of the brain.
A.He drew his lips in the way he had memories of before when he had the family trips of where he drew the lips. I believed that this occurred because it was a memory of his and as humans, everything we do we base off of memory.
3.A metaphor is comparison without using like or as or understanding one thing in terms of something else. I agree because it would help the person get better at learning and describing things that are important in the world.
a.Leaping with laughter is one for me because I laugh a lot through the week because of my friends, family, and people in school.
b.To tread water- because a lot of the stuff I do I end up doing enough to stay or succeed but I don’t give extra
c.Evil is a Stain- I say this because bad things happen in my life and all I say is that it’s just a stain that you can watch away and it will be good.
d.Reality is an Enemy- I say this because you want reality so much but the reality might not be something much and it will be so weird if it comes the way you want it too.
e.Fear is a Beast That Feeds on Attention- It says that it is fear that will rule your life even though it is not that much to worry about but it will seem big.

There is a smile but it’s not really there. I think this occurred because that’s how he sees himself when he was drawing and as humans people draw what they see.
3. I agree with pink because it is important that we build up our understanding of metaphors. Metaphor examples: I am a rose that is blooming in a garden. This week is a thunderstorm. Life is the season it goes on forever. You are the light in my life. She is my East and my West, my compass.

ReplyDelete1. A symphony is similar to how you write an essay because they both include different ideas composed into one piece of work. They are different because the symphony is music first of all and it is used as an enjoyable experience and an essay is used to explain something or persuade a point.
2. The drawing class that Daniel Pink was enrolled in was taught by a man named Bomeisler, the class is based on Betty Edwards’s method Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. He drew his lips kind of weird looking. I think that he drew them like this because maybe he is saying that sometimes you have to just close your mouth, and just listen.
3. A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance. I agree with Pink’s opinion on MQ, because everything isn’t always going to be logical or make complete sense and it’s good to know the true meaning behind what is being said.
• School is a gateway to adulthood. I chose this metaphor because my week of school has showed me birth and all the complications of bringing a life into this world.
• Leaping with laughter. I chose this metaphor because my life is usually full of laughter.
• I'm dead tired. I chose this metaphor because with me moving and all my school work I’ve been tired lately.
• Strong as an ox. I chose this quote because within the last month my life has ran into some problems but I’m remaining strong.
• I am a rose that is blooming in a garden. I chose this metaphor because it shows the fact that I’m growing into a woman.

1. The symphony is similar to writing an essay as well as drawing a picture because there are important parts. Some parts of a symphony are the main notes to hit to make the song what it is. Also you have to take all the pieces and put them together. Every detail must match to be able to make it a good drawing, essay, or symphony. A difference between the two is essays and drawings are done individual and symphony takes a large group of people.
2. He enrolled in a class by reading the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. He explains that he drew his lips from the remembrance of his childhood. This relates to other humans because that’s how many artists do their work. They think of something from their childhood and draw it.
3. A metaphor is a comparison without using “like” or “as”. I agree with what he said, it is important to be able to understand others. Some metaphors that connect to my life “His head is thicker than a brick”. My mom always says that to me when I don’t listen to her. “Sheets are coming down”, that’s something me and my family say when it’s raining hard. “Puffing the magic dragon”, I say that to anyone that smokes cigarettes. “Your soft as a pillow”, when me and my brother play around and fight he says that. “You big baby”, my family always tease each other by saying that.

c. I am a tiger because I am mysterious, sometimes vicious, yet loving and caring.
d. I am a wild bull when I go to parties.

ReplyDelete1)How is a symphony similar to the way you write an essay, draw a picture or put something together? Compare and contrast.
A symphany tells a story, it is a piece of work. It has rising actions and falling actions. It also has climaxes like stories do. When you write and essay. You give information or tell a story about someone or something. The difference is that essays have words and symphanies have music. But within the music your hear a story or learn something from it, like you do in essays. They both are pieces of work.
2)What was the name of the drawing class in which Daniel Pink enrolled?
After reflecting on his first self portrait how does Pink describe how he drew his lips? Why do you believe that this occurred and how does this relate to our thinking (as humans)?
The name of the drawing class in which Daniel Pink enrolled in was called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. His drawings was the remembered symbols from his childhood. He drew his lips from a memory of when his family would travel to his grandparents. He didn’t truly see what his lips looked like. I think people with little knowledge of how to draw make the same mistakes. I think its just because of how we think. But our thinking grows when we correctly learn how.
3)What is a metaphor? Pink believes it is important for us to build our MQ. Do you agree or disagree with his argument? Use examples from your own life to support your answer. Using at least 5 metaphors, describe yourself/your day or your week, making sure to explain the metaphors you use.
According to the author, a metaphor is the understanding of one thing in terms of something else. I do agree with Pink. Pink expalins it can help us understand others, which would make life so much easier. There have been many times when everthing was so much more difficult because of not being able to understand other people. Example: 1)My day is miles long- This is means my day is long. 2)My week needed coffee- This means I had a lot of work and needed to stay up more. 3)I am like tickle me elmo.-This means I love to laugh. 4)I am sometimes a volcano-This means I am laid back but when messed with, can explode. 5)I am a book-This means I can
sometimes be read.

1.A symphony is similar to writing an essay because it is based off of something and it has to catch the croud or readers attention. It also, compares because both a symphony and an essay require hard work and dedication.
You have to be put the work togehter peice by piece in a specific order so that it will make sense. They have to be able to capture something great. All of the details must agree so that it can compliment the writing style. The work of both musicians or idividual(s) need to work together to make a effective impact on others.
Daniel Pink enrolled in a class by reading a book called Drawing on the Right side of the Brain, which was provided by the Edwards.

I think that occurred because that is how he see’s things through his eyes. He said in the cahpter that it came from his childhood, that is the image that he see’s as far as what lips should look like. Humans thinking is based off what they seen and how they view things on their own. ReplyDelete1. Listen to Haydn's "Surprise Symphony" No. 94. How is a symphony similar to the way you write an essay, draw a picture or put something together? Compare and contrast.
Symphony is the ability to pull many different ideas and concepts together to create one work of are. This being said, say you are drawing a picture of someone’s face, you can’t see it as a whole, you must break it down into sections and features. You start with the shape of the head, position and shape of the eyes, the nose, the location and fulness of the lips, so on and so forth. In the end you have and entire face, but it was composed of bits and pieces. The same goes for a symphony, 90 individual instruments play together and created one song. Violins, flutes, cellos, pianos, harps, snares and bass drums join together in perfect harmony.
2. What was the name of the drawing class in which Daniel Pink enrolled?
• After reflecting on his first self portrait how does Pink describe how he drew his lips? Why do you believe that this occurred and how does this relate to our thinking (as humans)?
He was not actually thinking about or replicating his lips while he was drawing the portrait. He withdrew to his childhood memory of a “Magikist” sign he used to see that he thought looked like lips. This happened because He was not using bits and pieces of his reflection, and he was not focused.
3. What is a metaphor? Pink believes it is important for us to build our MQ. Do you agree or disagree with his argument? Use examples from your own life to support your answer. Using at least 5 metaphors, describe yourself/your day or your week, making sure to explain the metaphors you use.
A metaphor is the understanding of one thin in terms of something else, or imaginitive rationality. As far as MQ or metaphorical quotient, I think it can be an asset to people in the conceptual age. Metaphor is all about understanding and perception. In certain cases it help people relate to one another, also it is a creative way of thinking. I use metaphors everyday to describe how I feel. It is up to others around me to interperet my metaphors and understand what I am saying and where I am coming from. Sometimes if a person ask me how I am feeling I may respond, “I am feeling a grey.” The color grey is associated with boredom, sadness, and or detachment from the world. It is up to others to decifer that meaning.
5 metaphors
I feel grey ( I am sad, bored, or feel nothing at all)
You look saggy (a person seems defeated)
Listen with your eyes (pay attention to what you see)
Did your bestfriend die ( someone is down in the dumps)
I’m high on life (things are going good and I am happy)
4. In the chapter Pink talks about a specific disorder which several people partially contribute their success to. Please answer the following questions relating to this disorder.
What disorder is considered to be an aide in R-brain thinking.
• Who partially contributes their success to this disorder?
• How does this disorder contribute to R-Brain thinking? - use at least 2 examples from the text to support your response.
Dyslexia seems to be better than a college degree. Many successful people of the world, such as Charles Schwab and Richard Branson dedicate their success to what most people would consider a hinderance. Studies show that people who have Dyslexia are very intuitive and a re great problem solvers. Dyslexia aides them in seeing the whole picture and simplifying which in return makes them inspired visionaries.

ReplyDelete1. Listen to Haydn's "Surprise Symphony" No. 94. How is a symphony similar to the way you write an essay, draw a picture or put something together? Compare and contrast.
They are alike in many ways because in all of these different tasks you must carefully consider what might be in the best interest for you work. You must carefully think through the things that you might want to put in your master piece.
2. What was the name of the drawing class in which Daniel Pink enrolled?
• After reflecting on his first self portrait how does Pink describe how he drew his lips? Why do you believe that this occurred and how does this relate to our thinking (as humans)?
He said “my lips don’t really look like that. Nobody’s lips look like that. I’ve drawn a symbol for lips-a symbol, as a matter of fact, that comes from childhood. Those penciled lips look a lot like the Magikist sign that used to beckon from I-94 when, as a kid, my family drove to visit my grandparents in Chicago.” As humans we tend to stick to what we know and what we are used to so we don’t really like to explore or options. We like to stay in our comfort zones. We like to keep it simple in to what we know. So by him knowing and being used to drawing the lips like that as a kid, he continued to do that because that is what he was used to.

A metaphor is a part of speech that you use when comparing one object to another. Metaphors does not use like nor as.
I do not I agree with him about how it is important for us to use our MQ. I say this because these metaphors are comparing two things that are not the same. For example if it was raining hard outside people say, it’s raining cats and dogs out there. What does cats and dogs have to do with the weather. Why can’t u just say that it is raining hard outside.
He has the heart of a lion- this is what people say when you are being mean.
You had better pull your socks up- this is what people say to try to encourage you to get ready for whatever life throws at you.
Apple of my eye- this is what people say when you fall in love.
Once your hearts been broken it grows back bigger. - This is what people say after you go through a break up to cheer you up.
School is a gateway to adulthood- this is what people say to try to persuade you that if you do well in school, you will do good when you are an adult.

Dyslexics think differently. They are intuitive and excel at problem-solving, seeing the big picture, and simplifying. They are poor rote reciters, but inspire visionaries. Game-changers such as Charles Schwab, who invented the discount brokerage, and Richard Branson, who has shaken up the retail music and airline industries, both cite their dyslexia as a secret to their success.

1. For example while trying to get my whole tenth grade class to participate in one simple activity would be one of the hardest tasks that I would have to do. I feel as if a symphony instructor task of getting the whole orchestra to play together let alone write the symphony is a hard task also.
2. He didn’t enroll himself in a conventional class he took a class that later a book was written on it. He says how in his class on the first day the instructor says that “drawing is largely about relationships”. Then he refers the reader back to the page where his portrait was and says that no ones lips really look like that. Also that he made a symbol for what lips look like. No ones lips really look like that.
3. I do agree with his concept. Many things that are created are metaphors for something else. “Everything you create is enriched by metaphor”. (Twyla Tharp 139) A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a term or phrase applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance.
1. In the mornings I am a slug when it comes to getting out of bed
2. In many situations I am a chameleon, my appearance changes with the given environment. Whether it is a party or just lying back at home I dress for the occasion.
3. When I’m hungry I’m a beast.
4. When it comes to my height I am a tree.
5. I’m a sloth when it comes to sleeping ion the weekends. I love to sleep.
4. Dyslexia is considered to be an aide in R-Brain thinking.

ReplyDelete1.Conducting a Symphony and Writing an essay are similar because they have a flow to it. Everything has to come together and make sense. For instance when different musical instruments come together to make beautiful sheet of music come to life, but everyone has to be on the same page. Then you have the different paragraphs within an essay but, everything has to fit together and be creative so the essay can be good.
2. Drawing on the right side of the brain. When he drew his self portrait he said that he drew a symbol for lips because nobody’s lips actually look like that. He said it looked like the Magikist sign he used to see on I-94 when he would ride to his grandparent’s house in Chicago. I think this relates to this topic because personally I do the same thing I don’t draw how it looks. For example when you are in an art class when people would drawing their selves it wouldn’t look like them it was just another drawing that didn’t come out right.
3.Metaphor is usually considered as a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance. I do agree to an extent because sure it’s good being creative but it’s not something to really fret over because everyone expresses their creativity differently.
4.Dyslexics. Dyslexics, think differently they are good at problem –solving, seeing the big picture, and simplifying.

ReplyDelete1. A symphony is simialr to the way you write, draw or put something together because they all take you to be creative. When you write an essay you words have to flow like a symphony would. When you draw a picture you have to have a creative and be able to think of new and different ideas, just like a symphony . Also when you put something together you have to have think of new ideas and work well with other( but not all the time. But at the same time the are not that common to symphony. When you draw a picture you have to be able to draw. When write an essay some people are able to write it better then others.
2. The class that Daniel Pink enter was called conventional art class.
Whe Pinnk drew his lips he said that they didn’t look like anybody’s that he drawn a symbol for lips. The sybmol was something that reminded him of his child hood the lips look like the migikist sign.
3. A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance. I agree with some of the things that he was saying about MQ because its good to be creative and express your self in a way that other people can understand you . Some metapors that I use are you’re a doll, dead to the world, his is a pig, we couldn’t get her to change her mind, and im down in the dumps.
4. For the two guys they say that be dyslexics is the reason why they were successfull.
This disorder contribute to the way the r-brain thinks because it helps you be more creative. It helps with problem solving asnd seeing the big picture. It helps adept at recognizing the patterns .
1. A symphony is like writing essay because you have to be able to focus on one main point and then you go for it and try your best on doing it. The difference is that when you do a essay you are by you self and in a symphony has a whole lot of people. But it really does not matter because you have to be on the same page with yourself and in a symphony you have to rely on everybody to get their part right.
ReplyDelete2. The school is called drawing on the right side of the brain. He describes the lips to be like a symbol like the Magikist he had saws when he was a little kid. Because he was thinking back in time and that image that he saw reminded him of his lips.
3. Something used, or regarded as being used, to represent something else. I think that we should build our MQ because it can help us build our creative process.
1 He was running like a jack rabbit earlier this week I was playing basketball and this guy was running really fast. 2 he shot a ton of bricks, I was playing basketball and this one guy could not make a shot. 3 time is so slow it feels like an eternity, when I’m in class I always look at the clock so I can get on with my day. 4 it’s raining homework papers, this week I had a lot of papers that needed to be turned in. 5 I wanted to cry like a baby, this week was very crazy and I had a lot of work to do.
4. The two people are Richard Branson and Michael Gerber. One way it contributes is because they can solved problems, and they also can see the big idea of everything.

ReplyDeleteA symphony is similar to drawing or writing an essay because it has different levels. This symphony started out calm and smooth, similar to a drawing. Then it hit a loud part. That could represent an idea being started in the drawing or essay. The darker part of the symphony could be the struggle and the erasing in the essay or drawing. Finally, at the end of the song it’s welcoming and smooth again, which could be the finishing of the work of art. A symphony is different simply because it is not the same type of medium or art as an essay and/or drawing.
The drawing class Daniel Pink took was called Drawing on the Right Side of The Brain. Pink says he drew his lips the way he did because a childhood memory intervened while he was drawing. That occurred because he didn’t block off his left side of his mind, therefore he left it open to put it’s own input in. This relates to our thinking because it shows that both sides work together involuntarily and in order for you to do something like drawing truthfully, you have to know how to isolate the two.
A metaphor is understanding one thing in terms of something else. It is important to build our MQ. Metaphors are ways of saying something without beign direct and when speaking with someone, you have to understand them. Metaphors help with decoding other people. For example, when I am with my friends, interpreting what they say literally won’t do me any good. Understanding metaphors help me understand others.
1. I’m rolling in dough.- For when I am getting in trouble, things are getting sticky.
2. To tread water- Sometimes a practice I do bare minimum, so I’m treading water or doing enough to survive but not win.
3. To blow the whistle- When I call my sisters out on something they did.
4. Fire is day, when it goes out it's night- That means it’s time to go to sleep, I’m drained.
5. Truth is food- When my sisters are being lied on.
It says dyslexia aids with the r-directed thinking. Charles Scwab, inventor of discount brokerage and Richard Branson credit their dylexia. Those with the disorder struggle with “linear, sequential, alphabetical reasoning”, so they develope a better relationship with the other hemisphere. It’s similar with how blind people become better hearers.

ReplyDelete1.)A symphony can be very similar to writing an essay mainly because they can both tell a story. It can have all of the same elements as a story. It can contain rising action, falling action, as well as a climax. The main difference would be between words and music. Even then, it doesn’t necessarily have to be much of a difference because the music can be interpreted. This can be turned into words and, yet again, tell a story.
2.)The name of the drawing class in which Daniel Pink enrolled in was called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. His drawings were the symbols of his childhood. The thing he decided to draw was his lips. Now, he really didn’t see what his lips looked like, so he just drew. I find this to be a normal for whoever doesn’t really know how to draw until you develop that skill.
3.)According to the author, a metaphor is the understanding of one thing in terms of something else. I think that I do agree because they can keep a better understanding of things. Examples: My day is miles long- my day is long, my week needed coffee- it was stressful and they needed to stay awake, I am like tickle me Elmo – like to be goofy or funny, I am sometimes a volcano- relaxed but can explode when too much is built up, and I am a book- predictable or read.
4.)The disorder that is considered to be an aid in R-brain thinking is dyslexia. Charles Schwab and Richard Branson use this disorder to their advantage and it contributes to their success. This disorder helps them to think differently because it’s a skill they already have to learn in order to deal with their dyslexia.
1)Writing music for a symphony is almost exactly the same as writing a picture or an essay. You should plan out what you're going to write, get all your ideas, or in this case instruments, together so you can see how they can fit together. Next you try and use them in a methodical order. If you want a happy feeling then a sad feeling you wouldn't use a deep sounding timpani and then a light sounding piccolo. All three of these forms of expression take careful planning to become a success. As humans I think we do things sometimes, not as much to satisfy us, but because we believe it would satisfy someone else.
ReplyDelete2)The class Daniel Pink enrolled in was based off of the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain," but he didn't state the name of the class. Pink drew the lips the way he did because he was drawing lips the way he would whne he was younger, as symbols. He didn't look at how lips were really drawn, but how they had been commonly portrayed in the world. It happened because he left side of his brain intervened not allowing him to draw the lips as he saw, but as he thought them to look. That is the reason his teacher told the class to turn Picasso's picture upside, so the left side of the brain couldn't interfere.
3) A metaphor is, according to Daniel Pink, is understanding one thing in terms of something else. Choreographer Twyla Tharp encourages people to boost their metaphor quotient (MP), because in the creative process MQ is just as important as IQ. I do agree with this statement because i think it's always good to understand people and to just learn more about people.
1)What's up-I say this everyday and i don't want the person to actually look up and tell me what's above them. I just want to know how are they.
2) Dodged a bullet- Avoided a sticky situation
3) Avoided a sticky situation- It's not really a sticky situation, it just wasn't a good situation.
4) Crazy as the day is long- It doesn't mean that someone is 24 hours worth of crazy, it just means that they are really crazy.
5) I'm starving- I'm not really starving, I'm just really hungry. i wouldn't know what it means to be starving because I'm Blessed.
4)Pink says that dyslexia is an aide to right directed thinking. Charles Scwab and Richard Branson attribute their success to dyslexia. They struggle with reasoning, but they develop a better relationship with their other hemisphere.

ReplyDelete1) The different between the two process of drawing and making or writing a symphony. With drawling you use all things like shapes and paint. Basically you need more art supplies for art than interments as for symphony will need more instruments and less art stuff. That’s really the only different between the two, but there are a lot of things that they have in common. For example you must be creative to create a master piece that has never been done, put pieces and pair elements many may think don’t go to gather. Also the thinking patterns and that they are maybe organized. A symphony can be art and art maybe someone’s symphony.
2) It was a class made from a drawling book. The class was called Drawling on the right side of your brain. He was talking about his lips they were looking like everything imaginary and not real. The reason so is that he was using what he learned in grade school and used that to draw his picture. As for the rest of the world we all do that not only in drawing, but problem solving and many other things. Instead of trying something new we look back on what we learned. Sometimes it’s good but not all the times.
3) It is important to understand metaphors because it’s a better way people get their point across. You was as nerves as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. It’s raining cats and dogs. It going to rain on your head.
